Educated at Columbia University and Northwestern University, Daniels married Dorothy Daniels in 1931. Dorothy was also a writer and the two often collaborated. Daniels' first published story was the Death-House Murder in Detective-Dragnet magazine in January 1932. In 1933, he began a relationship with Thrilling Publications. He then went on to write over 30 Phantom Detective stories for them. In 1938, he created Tony Quinn, The Black Bat. Daniels also did work for the comic books. In later years, he wrote for radio and as a script writer. He contributed to Alfred Hitchcock Presents and many other dramas and westerns programs. His other works include Clues in the Dark (1934), Corpse Collector (1935), Mortgaged Treasure (1938), The Golden Hand (1939), Paid to Die (1940), Murder First (1944), The Lady is a Witch (1950), Murder Under the Big Top (1965), The Magnetic Man (1968) and Voodoo Slave (1970). |
