Laurence Donovan

Born: Jul. (?), 1885 - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Died: Mar. 11, 1948 - New York City, New York, USA

Donovan worked as a journalist for the San Francisco Call-Bulletin and the Vancouver Sun. He was also the city editor of the Spokane Chronicle. He contributed stories to various magazines during the 1920s and, in 1929, broke into the pulps with Brick Sacrifices in Sport Story Magazine. By 1933, he was contributing stories to Street & Smith's magazines as a member of its staff. In 1935, he was requested to write Doc Savagenovels under the house name of Kenneth Robeson. He created nine Savage novels in all. During the 1930s he wrote under various pseudonyms for a variety of publications including Wild West Weekly, Crime Busters, G-Men Detective and Thrilling Publications to name a few. He died in relative seclusion in 1948. His works include Moon Riders (1936), Doc Savage (1935-1937, Doll of Death (1938), Kissing Corpses (1940), Swamp Angel (1941) and The Pin-Up Girl Murders (1944).
