Died: Nov. 29, 1981 - Los Angeles, California, USA

Educated at Rio Grande College in Ohio, following graduation he worked at various jobs including insurance investigator and various jobs for the WPA. In 1936, he became editor of Detective Fiction Weekly. During the 1940s, he wrote detective fiction and hundreds of scripts for radio shows such as Suspense and The Saint. Crossen was one of the founders of The Mystery Writers of America. In the 1950s, he began writing science fiction, contributing stories to pulp magazines such as Thrilling Wonder Stories. He invented the character of insurance investigator Milo March who appeared in numerous stories from the 1950s to the 1970s. His works include The Boy Who Criued Wolf 359 (1951), Restricted Clientele (1951), Assignment to Aldebaran (1953), Year of Consent (1954), The Rest Must Die (1959), Six Who Ran (1964), A Man in the Middle (1967), The Flaming Man (1969), The Bonded Dead (1971), Born to Be Hanged (1973) and The Green Lama (1976).
