Born: Feb. 24, 1867 - Axams, Austria

Died: Mar. 15, 1943 - Vienna, Austria

He was educated first in philosophy, thereafter in medicine in Vienna and became a doctor in 1896. After a short job in a hospital, he opened his own practise in Vienna. Although he supported the Anschluss, he was not an anti-semite. He began writing plays and, after his second one, Der Bildschnitzler (1900), gave up medicine for writing. His works include Der Judas non Tirol (1897), Der SonnwendtagFamilie (1905), Erde (1908), The She Devil (1914), Volk In Nat (1926), Der Armendoktor (1927) and Die Fahne Weht (1937).
