The Family moved to Connecticut when Jean was 8. Jean's education is unknown although she did attend school in New Canaan. Jean was evidently a lawyer in New York City, although, again, little is known of her career. She married the writer, Charles Lamont Buchanan. Some say that the works attributed to Harding were actually written by Buchanan, but this has never been substantiated. She began contributing stories to Weird Tales magazine in 1943 and continued into the 1950s. In 2004, she and her husband moved into a New York City nursing home where Jean died shortly thereafter. in all, 36 short stories were published in Weird Tales by Milligan. Her works include The Unfriendly World (1943), Guard in the Dark (1944), House of Hate (1944), The Damp Man (1947), The Frightened Engineer (1948), The Holiday (1949), Takes the Z-Train (1950) and Scope (1951). |
