Kayser was married in 1930 and seems to have moved to Chicago at that time. He worked for the Juvenile Protective Agency (JPA) while contributing stories to various pulp magazines. His first work, The Phantom in the Sky appeared in Weird Tales in January 1934. The next three years were very successful as he published in magazines such as Weird Tales, Dime Mystery Magazine, Terror Tales and Argosy Weekly. He also produced crime fiction as well as some novels. He wrote under his real name as well as his pseudonym of Dale Clark. His output began to decline in the late 1960s. His work includes In the Dark (1936), The Seance (1936), Eye in the Sky (1937), A Ghost in the House (1937), Focus on Murder (1943), Narrow Cell (1944), The Blond, the Gangster and The Private Eye (1949), Mambo to Murder (1953), I See Red (1955) and Country Coffin (1961). |
