Wyatt Blassingame

Died: Jan. 9, 1985 - Anna Maria, Florida, uSA

Educated at Samford University, the University of Alabama and New York University, Blassingame graduated in 1952 after a break for World War II, in which he served in the U.S. Navy. He won the bronze star and a Presidential Unit Citation. He was married to Gertrude Olsen in 1936. During the 1930s, Blassingame wrote numerous short stories for magazines such as Terror Tales and Dime Mystery. He was also the author of many juvenile works, including four novels written for the Landmark book series. His works include The Murder Scoop (1935), Love Comes From the Grave (1936), The Corroding Death (1939), His Kingdom for a Horse (1940), For Better, For Worse (1951), Live From the Devil (1959), This Land Is Mine (1960), The Mountain Men (1962), Sacagawea (1967), The Golden Geyser (1974) and Pecos Bill and the Wonderful Clothesline Snake (1978).
