Died: Oct. 2, 1955 - Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, USA

Initially trained as a chemist, then lawyer, Schachner turned his attention to writing and, in 1930, collaborated with Arthur Leo Zagat on his first story,The Tower of Evil, published in Wonder Story Quarterly. The two would collaborate on a further eleven stories before the partnership broke up. Schachner wrote numerous science fiction stories over the next decade, before he turned to historical biographies.His only novel appeared in Astounding Stories in 1941 as Space Lawyer, which subsequently appeared in book form in 1953. His works include Emissaries of Space (1932), The Revolt of the Scientists (1933), Ancestral Voices (1933), Past, Present and Future (1937-39), When Time Stood Still (1937), City of the Corporate Mind (1939), Cold (1940), The King's Passings (1942), Alexander Hamilton (1946) and The Founding Fathers (1954).
