Died: Jul. 8, 1933 - Walton-on-the-Hill, Surrey, England
Hope was educated at Marlborough and Balliol College, Oxford and became a lawyer in 1887. His novel The Prisoner of Zenda (1894) was a great success and the sequel, Rupert of Hentzau (1898) convinced him to devote his time entirely to writing. Among his other works is The Dolly Dialogues (1894) a series of high-society conversations. Hope was knighted in 1918 for his work during the First World War.
