Halleck worked in a variety of New York banks, his writing was incidental. He was a leading member of the New York Knickerbocker group in the early 19th century. He contributed satirical pieces to magazines and newspapers and among his published books are Alnwick Castle (1822), Burns (1827), Marco Bozzaris (1825), Red Jacket (1828) and Young America (1865). |
