Died: Mar. 9, 2000 - Lucas, Kansas, USA

Wilcox was born and raised in Lucas, Kansas and was educated at the University of Kansas. After graduation he taught school in Lucas and the general area. He had always enjoyed writing and finally, in 1939, published his first SF work, The Pit of Death in Fantastic Adventures magazine, part of Ray Palmer's Amazing Stories group. He began publishing avidly during the 1940s and early 1950s. Following a trip to Guatemala in 1958, he developed Caminos, a bi-lingual magazine which became used by Spanish classes. He continued to teach in Guatemala City until he was named the editor of Opportunity News in 1965. Wilcox retired in 1975 and settled in Sarasota, Florida. He returned to Kansas in 1998. His many works include Dictator of Peace (1939), The Robot Peril (1940), The Gift of Magic (1940), The Whispering Gorilla (1940), The Voyage That Lasted 600 Years (1940), The Hollow Planet (1942), The Great Brain Panic (1943), Magnetic Miss Meteor (1944), The Singing Skulls (1945), Secret of the Serpent (1948), The Iron Men of Venus (1952), The Serpent River (1957) and Blueflow (1992).
