Mignon G Eberhart

a.k.a. Mignon (nee) Good Eberhart

Born: Jul. 6, 1899 - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA

Died: Oct. 8, 1996 - Greenwich, Connecticut, USA

Educated at Nebraska Wesleyan University, Eberhart didn't complete her degree. In 1923, she married Alanson Clyde Eberhart. She had begun writing short stories as a young woman and continued during the early years of her marriage. Her first novel, The Patient in Room 18 appeared in 1929 and her second, While the Patient Slept (1931), received the Scotland Yard Prize.She became extremely popular during the 1930s and was compared with Agatha Christie. Many of her works were made into films. She was divorced in 1946, bu remarried Eberhart in 1948. In 1971, she was awarded the Mystery Writers of America's Grand Masters Award. Her many works include The Cases of Susan Dare (1934), Fair Warning (1936), Brief Return (1939), Speak No Evil (1941), Escape the Night (1944), The White Dress (1946), Hunt With the Hounds (1950), Postmark Murder (1956), Jury of One (1960), Call After Midnight (1964), Family Fortune (1976), Next of Kin (1982) and Three Days for Emeralds (1988).
