Died: May 3, 1938 - Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Educated at the University of Alabama, Peck graduated in 1871 and then studied medicine at Bellevue Hospital Medical College, where he received his degree in 1879. Peck's style was simple and unpretentious and his poetry flowed easily. In 1931, he was selected as the Poet Laureate of Alabama, the first to hold the position, which he did until his death. His other works include Rings and Love Knots (1892), Rhymes and Roses (1895), Fair Women of Today (1895), The Golf Girl (1899), Maybloom and Myrtle (1901) and Autumn Trail (1925).
