Nelson S. Bond

Died: Nov. 4, 2006 - Roanoke, Virginia, USA

Educated at Marshall College in West Virginia, Bond wrote for the Huntington Herald Advertiser and edited the school newspaper. Following his graduation in 1934 Bond went to work for his father's PR agency. He started writing science fiction in 1937 with Down the Dimension for Astounding Science Fiction magazine. He was very popular during the 1940s and contributed to many of the SF pulp magazines. He also served on the board of directors of the British North American Philatelic Society. After the early 1950s, Bond worked primarily in public relations, opening his own agency in 1959. In 1998, Bond was named Author Emeritus by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. His many works include Mr. Mergenthwerker's Lobblies (1937), Exiles of Time (1949), The 31st of February (1949), The Remarkable Exploits of Lancelot Biggs, Spaceman (1950), The Monster (1953), No Time Like the Future (1954), State of Mind (1958), Animal Farm (1964), Nightmares and Daydreams (1968) and James Branch Cabell, a Bibliography (1974).
