Rufus King

a.k.a. Rufus Frederick King

Author Code: ARKG

Born: Jan. 3, 1893 - New York City, New York, USA

Died: Feb 1, 1966 - Hollywood, Florida, USA

Educated at Yale University, King graduated in 1914. He was a member of Elihu, a Yale secret society, and he also served as president of the Yale Dramatic Association. He became a prolific author and playwright and had a successful career from the 1920s through the 1960s. He invented characters such as detective Reginald De Puyster and lieutenant Valcour. His initial novel, Murder De Luxe appeared in 1927. King's popularity began to decline in the late 1940s and today his works are seldom read, which is a shame, although there is an effort to rekindle interest in his works which include The Fatal Kiss Mystery (1928), Murder by the Clock (1929), Murder on the Yacht (1932), Profile of a murder( 1935), Crime of Violence (1938), Diagnosis Murder (1942), The Deadly Dove (1945), Lethal Lady (1947), The Steps to Murder (1960) and The Faces of Danger (1964).
