Author Code: ECCB

Born: Dec. 25, 1885 - Great Hockham, Norfolk, England

Died: (?) 1973 - London, England

Educated at King's College, London, Bush worked as a school teacher in Sussex after graduating. He served in both world wars, rising to the rank of major by the end of the First World War. He began to publish in 1926 with The Plumley Inheritance. In it, he introduced his amateur sleuth Ludovic Travers, who would appear in all of his crime novels. He also wrote some mystery novels set in the East Anglia countryside of his youth. Information on Bush is very sparse, in spite of his huge production and popularity during the 1940s and 1950s. His other works include The Perfect Murder Case (1929), Dancing Death (1931), The Case of the Dead Shepherd (1934), The Hampstead Murder (1935), The Case of the Climbing Rat (1940), The Case of the Haven Hotel (1948), The Case of the Frightened Mannequin (1951), The Case of the Dead Man Gone (1961) and The Case of the Prodigal Daughter (1968).
