Ralph Straus

Died: Jun. 5, 1950 - London, England

Educated at Harrow, Pembroke College and Cambridge University, Straus was a Foundation Scholar in biology. He published his first book, The Man Apart, in 1906 and became a prolific author and biographer. He is also known to have presided over the "Fives Association" tennis group in the 1920's. His many works include John Baskerville (1907), The Little God's Drum (1908), The Scandalous Mr. Waldo (1909), Robert Dodsley (1910), Carriages and Coaches (1912), Volcano (1922), Married Alive (1925), The Unspeakable Curll (1927), Charles Dickens (1928), A Whip for the Woman (1931) and Sala (1942).
