Alan Sullivan

Born: Nov. 29, 1868 - Montreal, Canada

Died: Aug. 6, 1947 - Toronto, Canada

Educated at the Loretto School in Scotland and the School of Practical Science in Toronto, Sullivan worked for a number of years in mining before beginning to write. He published his first book, The Passing of Oul-i-but, in 1913. He became a regular contributor to leading periodicals such as Atlantic Monthly and Harper's Magazine and received a fair amount of recognition for his poetry and short stories. In 1941, he received the Governor General's Award for English Language Fiction. His other works include Inner Door (1917), Aviation in Canada 1917-1918 (1919), Rapids (1920), Brother Eskimo (1921), Jade God (1924), Days of Their Youth (1926), Under the Northern Lights (1926), Verdict of the Sea (1927), Little Way Ahead (1930), Great Divide (1935), Three Came to Ville Marie (1941) and Fur Masters (1947).
