Elliott O'Donnell

Died: May 8, 1965 - (?) England

Educated at Clifton College, England and Queen's Service Academy in Dublin, O'Donnell worked at a variety of jobs after leaving school, including ranching in Oregon, policeman in Chicago and schoolmaster in England. In 1904, he published his first book, For Satan's Sake, a psychic thriller which was reasonably successful. O'Donnell became a 'hunter' of supernatural phenomena and he published numerous volumes of his findings. In 1912, he published his masterpiece, The Sorcery Club, which was immensely popular. He wrote over 50 books, in addition to numerous articles for magazines and newspapers, and continued to write until well into his eighties. He also lectured on the paranormal and broadcast on both radio and television in England and America. His other works include Some Haunted Houses (1908), Scottish Ghost Stories (1912), Haunted Highways and Byways (1914), The Banshee (1926), Haunted Churches (1939), Dead Riders (1953) and Phantoms of the Night (1956).
